Over the last 7 years since I started working online I have tried out many online tools to help me with my business. Some I have loved and some not so much, but there are a few that really stand out for me. The tools that I simply cannot do without.

At some stage I will write a comprehensive list of awesome tools that I recommend but this is the list of the bare necessities for me.

Make sure to scroll down to my Instagram post that is embedded to enter a Giveaway for a 6 month subscription to one of my all time favourite online blogging tools – Social Jukebox.

My 5 Top Online Blogging Tools

Wealthy Affiliate

I’ve been a Premium member of Wealthy Affiliate now for over 4 years and it is the one thing that really changed the game for me. I stumbled across this community while looking for information on how to rank my website.

The training is top notch and so is the support from the community. There is so much to learn about blogging and it can be overwhelming. Wealthy Affiliate takes you by the hand and teaches you how to blog while you set up your blog step by step.

The main focus is on affiliate marketing but you can apply the basics that you learn here to any online business. You will learn how to build your website from scratch, how to create content, how to get your content ranked on search engines so that you get traffic to your website and how to monetize your website so that you can make money from the traffic on your site.

They also offer many great tools such as free hosting for up to 25 of your own domains, a keyword tool (which I will go into detail in the next item), free SSL certificates for your websites, live weekly webinars, 24 hour support and live chat.

One of the things I enjoy the most about Wealthy Affiliate is that the online world is always changing and you have to stay up to date with everything. If anything changes online I’m handed that information on a platter by Wealthy Affiliate, along with the relevant training. There are no guessing games here, I am well looked after.

Jaaxy Keyword Tool

The next item on my list is my Jaaxy keyword tool. It is actually included in my Wealthy Affiliate membership so I don’t pay anything extra for it over and above my Wealthy Affiliate membership fees.

The reason I am listing it separately is because it is a tool in it’s own right and keyword research is vitally important if you work online. A keyword is simply the search term that someone types into a search engine.

You may have a great idea for a post and want to get cracking with it immediately, however you need to know not only what search terms people are using, you also need to know how much competition there is for that search term.

Spending a little bit of time researching your keywords before you write your article is well worth the effort.

Try it out for yourself by popping a search term into the Jaaxy search bar below. It’s loads of fun and you get 30 free searches.

Canva

If you are a blogger and you are not a graphic designer then you have to start using Canva – the best part about Canva is that you can use it for free. I used the free version of Canva for 5 years before giving their 30 day free trial for the Pro account a try and I have not looked back since. I will be sharing a post soon on why I am loving the Pro account so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Creating images with Canva is so simple and easy, trust me if I can figure out how to use it then anyone can.

Canva is something that I use every single day. I use it to create my blog post images, social media images, business cards, rate cards and media kits. I even use Canva to create my kids birthday invites every year.

If you have not tried out Canva then I highly recommend that you give it a go.

Social Jukebox

I’ve been using Social Jukebox for a number of years. It was originally Tweet Jukebox which was limited to Twitter and when they started to include Facebook and LinkedIn they changed so Social Jukebox.

Simply put Social Jukebox is a scheduling tool for Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. You link your social media accounts and then you can schedule your posts.

There are many other social scheduling tools but the thing that makes Social Jukebox really stand out for me is that the other tools you have to keep on scheduling your posts. With Social Jukebox you can add your posts to a jukebox and it will keep on looping those posts over and over again.

If you have evergreen content you can forget about endless scheduling of your posts, just pop them in once and you don’t have to think about it again.

This is such a time saver for me since before I found this tool I had to spend hours each week scheduling my posts ahead of time. Now when I publish a new blog post I head straight to Social Jukebox, pop it in and it is done.

It is tough being a work from home mother so anything that frees up my time and helps me to run my business while I look after my kids or run my household comes up tops in my eyes!

Another thing that I just love about Social Jukebox is the helpfulness and responsiveness of the owner, Tim Fargo. I have emailed him a few times over the years for various things and he has always been so helpful and friendly each time.

He is so lovely that I was bold enough to ask him to sponsor a Giveaway for this post and he was more than happy to do so! Thank you Tim, you’ve made my day and I promise to write a full review of Social Jukebox as soon as I can.

You can enter the Giveaway on my Instagram post below to win a 6 month subscription for Social Jukebox.

Bloggers Engagement & Growth Community – Ladies Only

One of the toughest parts of blogging is creating engagement on your website and on your social media channels. It is almost as if nobody wants to go first, but if you have engagement on your channels it not only encourages more engagement from your readers, it also helps to boost your website rankings and your popularity on social media.

To get this kick started it is very helpful to find your own tribe, a community that supports you and can help your business grow.

Wealthy Affiliate is a fantastic community that I will never leave but there is something more that I was looking for – a community of women only that support each other.

I have spent a long time looking online and joined many Facebook groups trying to find that space but I have not been able to find it.

A few weeks back I decided to take matters into my own hands and created my own online community and I have been completely blown away by it already!

We help each other when we are stuck and we engage with each other online, which helps the ranking of our websites and helps to increase the engagement levels on our social networks.

Wealthy Affiliate offers a fantastic site comments feature which I make use of, however it does not always work well for my sites. The reason being is that the majority of the members that take part are male and most of my websites are geared towards women.

If I am writing a post geared towards women and 95% of the people that respond are men it looks just plain creepy. Sorry guys – no offense intended here, but when I am writing about breastfeeding or those TMI posts about giving birth I really need the ladies commenting!

Please note: It is in fact in the pipeline for Wealthy Affiliate to have an option for choosing which gender you would like to respond to your request for comments, so keep an eye out for that!

It is early days and the community is small but highly engaged and this is what really counts. I am so excited to see where this community website takes us as I have truly found an amazing tribe.

If you are a woman working online wanting to grow your engagement on your blog, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter please sign up here! (LinkedIn and Youtube will be added soon too.)

I’ve shown you mine, so now tell me about yours! What are online blogging tools can you simply not do without?

  1. Oh, nice one you have here. I have made use of jaxxy and used it to do some research online to get ranked on search engines and its been great. Also joined wealthy affiliate a month ago and the tools on there including jaxxy is awesome. I’m yet to make use of canva yet though and I’ll be sure to try it out for my great graphics. I am  happy you have created a community for ladies to help one another. That’s perfect. Keep up the good work.

  2. Hello Lynne, I must say that this article is very helpful and informative. I am also using Jaaxy as my favorite keyword research tool and it is truly one of the best tools out there. Canva is also great for the promotion of business as I can create awesome landing pages and banners with it.

  3. Wow! These are really great tools that you have shared up here. These are great online tools that have done exceptionally well for any marketer or blogger. I personally know of the first three in the list, wealthy Affiliate, jaaxy and canvas. They’ve helped me to develop my blog a lot and I cannot do without them. Thanks for sharing this

  4. I have been apart of Wealthy Affiliate for 2 months and I love the training it is so informative. I also love using Canva and Jaxxy has been such a great help I highly recommend it. Thank you for the tip on using social jukebox I have not heard of it and will look into that one.

  5. Well I’ve just entered the world of blogging, so this article is really going to help me start off on the right foot!

This Wealthy Affiliate community really does seem like a great place for newcomers to start with. I have been a little worried about my knowledge level, so I’m hoping the free membership there will provide me with enough education to get a few articles up on my new site?

    1. Chris you can learn a lot on Wealthy Affiliate using the free membership but I really recommend that you go Premium – it is well worth investing in your business!

  6. Hi Lynn, really appreciate you sharing this. I have been trying to create my online business for just a month now and whilst I have been using both weathly affiliate and Jaaxy, I was not familiar with Canva or Social Jukebox.

I really appreciate the introduction to these tools and the understanding that you have provided on why you use them. I’m really please and grateful that you are sharing your experience and insight from the past 5 years, it helps us newbie’s hopefully get up top speed quicker.

I love the fact that people in this community are all so helpful rather than ultra competitive and unwilling to share like the business world.

    1. That is the beauty of finding a community of like-minded people! And you as so right, there are people that help each other and there are people that compete. We can all go so much further if we work together!

  7. Wow! a very informative post. I’ve just got some few tools to my collections through this post. I know about jaaxy keyword tools, thanks to wealthy affiliate; it has really helped me in ranking my websites. It’s amazing to see some one who has spent 4 good years on that awesome platform, it’s an encouragement for people like me who just joined few months ago.

Thanks for taking time to write on this.

  8. I agree with you that Wealthy Affiliate and Jaaxy are definitely at the top of the list when it comes to blogging tools I can’t do without. With Wealthy Affiliate, your hosting, domain name, content tools, and training are all included so that is a no brainer. With Jaaxy I find that it is so easy to use and so quick to find useable keywords that help your blog to rank on the search engines.

Canva is also a great tool, as it is so easy to use and even if you don’t have any graphic design experience, you can still come up with some decent looking graphics for your blog.

As for Social Jukebox, I haven’t seen that one yet, but based on your other recommendations, I am definitely going to look into this one.

  9. I am a blogger as well. Although relatively new I am always looking for shortcuts to automate the process. Sounds like social jukebox is exactly what I have been looking for. It’s tough to stay on top of things in the blogging space. Especially when it comes to social media. Thanks for the excellent tips. Another thing I struggle with is finding the right keywords for my posts. That jaaxy tool seems to be something else that I have been searching for. Thanks for all the insight.

    1. It is a pleasure Jeff – I am sure you will enjoy Social Jukebox as much as I do! Regarding keyword research – you will be a pro in no time with Jaaxy. It makes it so easy to do! Try out their 30 free searches and see for yourself.

  10. I am now 5 months old into the Wealthy Affiliate Program and I must say I am enjoying every bit of it. I have never seen a more dedicated team of trainers and helpers that are willing to help newbies succeed in the online business.

I am on my journey to mastering the Jaaxy Keyword Tool and I am yet to get there. I am hearing of Canva for the first time and since I am also a logo designer on the side, I will want to try this tool too.

I have liked your photo and I hope to get the Social Jukebox giveaway. Thanks for highlighting this tools.

    1. Good luck with the giveaway Carol – Social Jukebox is a fantastic tool that will save you hours and hours of time as you grow your blog! And Canva is fantastic too – best part is you can use it for free.

  11. Hi Lynne

I am very surprised that you managed to keep it down to 5, as there are so many tools that can be used by a blogger.  Saying that the 5 you have chosen are some of the best, as I cannot imagine life without them. Jaxxy and Canva are God send, as nowadays you have to be a researcher and  graphic designer at the same time. This makes designing social media post such as Pins easier to do and to find keywood for future blogs.  You can need all the help that you can get in order to succeed.

The only other thing i would add is an ebook creator, which is good  for a number of uses.

    Thanks

    Antonio

    1. Oh there are loads of tools that I love that are amazing, but if I had to cut it down the the few that I cannot live without, that is this list!

I’ve had a look at ebook creators in the past but I have never figured out how to use them #foreheadslap – If you have a good one that is simple and easy to use then please refer me!

  12. Great recommendations. I’ve personally used Canva to design all my pictures for blogs and social media as it is a really easy to use drag-and-drop editor. I also used Jaaxy and i can’t live without it now. Keyword research is the first step before you do anything and what i love about Jaaxy is that is has a brainstorm feature which gives you tons of ideas when coming up with niche ideas or content ideas!

    1. Oh yes I also love doing keyword research and you are so right, there are so many amazing ideas you can get for creating content while doing keyword research. Every time I research a new post I get another bunch of ideas to save for later.

  13. I’ve tried several blogs searching a real stuff but all have failed me in the past. Some time last month I got to know about wealthy affiliate and canva and since then I must confess I have been really happy. Although I haven’t tried the other blog mentioned, but seeing wealthy affiliate and canva on your list is giving me the push to try them as well. Thanks for the information.

  14. Hi, Lynne.
Thanks for sharing five tools you use for blogging.
Every suggestion counts for me and I take it very seriously as I feel that a blog like yours save us a lot of time to experience and choose the best out of the available lot.

Wealthy Affiliate and Jaaxy are excellent choices apart from Canva. Social Jukebox is new for me and I would definitely use it for my contents.
Being a guy I can understand that ladies need that space to discuss something feminine and there is no grudge on that. Thanks for the information that WA’s site comment is coming up with the option to choose your audience gender. That’s really great.
    Warm Regards,
    Gaurav Gaur

    1. Yes Gaurav, Kyle told me that it is in the pipeline which is fantastic, but I just could not wait that long for it. Also I wanted to engage on a deeper level with women than just commenting… so yes it is really fun and helpful!

You must check out Social Jukebox, I absolutely love it!

  15. Thanks for this informative article on the 5 top online blogging tools that you can’t do without. I really was curious about this one, as I have been in the blogging business about the same length of time as you have, and I have some favorites as well. Of the five that you mention I have three (Wealthy Affiliate, Jaaxy, and Canva) that I use almost daily…

For social marketing I use another tool that is quite similar to your Social Jukebox tool, these are tools that I consider to be essential as there are just too many accounts and too much posting to do without something to automate your activity. I am sure that most of us are using something…

The last tool is one that you have designed for yourself and I really like that idea a lot. I have several business pages and groups on Facebook, and these all are intended to complement and flow back into the overall business that I have developed over the years, of which blogging is one piece of a multi-faceted strategy…

Are you using any outside help besides the automation tool for the social posts? I am referring to virtual assistants or the like to create content or perhaps provide customer support for your business? I have gone in this direction and have been quite happy with the results. Good post and best of luck, it sounds like things are going very well!

    1. Dave until recently I have done almost everything myself and it really is a load to take on, especially since I have a number of websites and social channels to go with each one. However I’m in the process of making a number of changes. This website is going to be the main place where I blog and I am keeping my main business website, Kaboutjie, which is and has been my main business since I started working online. The my new website for lady bloggers is going to stay and I have plans for another community website which I am going to build next. The rest of my websites I am deleting or redirecting… or just leaving to sit.

Then to answer your question – I’ve mostly done everything myself but I have recently met an amazing woman and we are so in tune with each other, she is a web tech expert and she is now taking over all my tech things and helping me with building my new websites as well as helping to fix issues I have on my other websites and OMG is it amazing to not have to worry about it.

  16. I use Canva occasionally and of course, so thrilled to be part of the exclusive Ladies Blogging community! I like having pc versions of the tools I use. I usually stress over images and have made myself a list of great sources both free and paid to create good featured images and pins. For social media I like using Buffer and IFTTT and the rest of the time, just engage and post manually. It definitely helps to use some automation because we can’t be out there all the time.

Sounds like a great giveaway, Lynne! And thank you for introducing me to new tools!

    1. Call me old school Vidya but I am still so much happier on my computer! I have also used Buffer, it is a lovely tool. I am not familiar with IFTTT though, I really need to check that out.

  17. Hey Lynne,
This post is one of the most informative posts I’ve read so far! I’ve never heard of two of these but will be giving them a try! I love Canva so much and could spend hours on there. Thank you for all
    Of this helpful info!

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it Felicia – I just love sharing the awesome things that I find online and the best is now that I can add my own online community to the list… because it really does rock!

  18. This is a great and resourceful post. Thank you for this. I use mostly all the tool you mentioned (or used to) and they are all fantastic. And I have to say, joining “Engagement & Growth Community – Ladies Only” group and website was the best thing I ever did 🙂

  19. Ooh yeah, I share 4 of your top 5. Just gotta win that 6-month trial of Social Jukebox and then I can add the 5th favourite in common! I have 2 new favourite tools to add as well, AWeber and Click Funnels. I’m having such fun automating my sales process at the moment. Thanks for a fab post, Lynne.

    1. Thanks Lauren – I used Aweber for a while and they are great but I found them very pricey, plus maybe it is just me but I have found my email open rate and click through rate to be very low even though I have over 6000 subscribers for my main business. Perhaps you can teach me a thing or two!
