WebJan 4, 2024 · Wondering if this is a cow, bison, or horse tooth. Was found on the platte river in central Nebraska. It does appear to be fossilized so I’m not sure how old that makes it. Originally thought cow but since it does seem to be fossilized I’m not sure there were cows in Nebraska that long ago. Deciduous lower teeth in cows also have an isolated stylid, the feature most useful in distinguishing adult bison lower teeth from adult cow lower teeth.
